New Bunkers
Members returning for the first time will get the pleasure to see the new Carrick Design bunker work that was completed last fall on greens No's. 4, 5, 16, and 18. In addition to this bunker work, the Greens Committee approved two additional bunker projects this winter to be completed this spring on No. 5 fairway and hole No. 10. Work to the bunkers has been identified as a top priority for quite some time, and all this work survives all course design plans that have been reviewed by the membership a couple of years ago.

Work finally got started this week on the 10th hole. On the left side of the fairway, four of the redundant bunkers have been removed and the fairway bunker at the bend will be expanded for visual impact from the tee. The greenside bunkers will be highlighted by an expanded front right bunker that will be visible from the tee as well, and change people's mind who might try to attempt to drive the green! Similar to the work on No. 4, 5 and 18, the approach into the green will be widened to allow golfers the option to roll up shots.

Drainage Installed No. 13 Green
During wet conditions No. 13 green has a tendency to remain saturated, and water can be seen in the cup hours after a good rainfall. Sometimes this green needs to be left uncut to avoid scalping the turf during these wet periods.
To solve this problem and help make the greens more consistent from one green to another, internal drainage was installed in this green this week. Passive capillary (PC) drainage was the method used which ploughed one inch rope into the green on three foot centres all draining to a header pipe dug right of the green.

Redoing the bunkers on No. 5 last fall has taken care of a couple bunkers on the property that needed some serious drainage work. While we are not in a position yet to move forward with a full bunker project, we are going to attempt fixing a few of our problem bunkers. The fairway bunkers on the left side of No. 8 left (liner lifting out) and the greenside bunkers on No. 9 (poor drainage) are currently getting some attention. Please play as ground under repair while this work is getting completed.
