Greens & Approaches Topdressed This Morning |
The pain and suffering from the recent aeration on greens has passed and the playing surfaces are getting back to their summer norms in time for the July long weekend.
From a golfer's perspective there is never a good time to perform the important process of aeration. But from our Club's perspective, the mid-June time frame sets us up well for the greens to perform in peak shape through the balance of the summer.
Greens are aerated to physically remove unwanted organic matter (thatch). The new sand filled in each aeration hole allows the water to drain through more rapidly, leading to increased firmness, improved air and gas exchange through the turf root zone and deeper roots.
Thanks again for your patience during this important procedure. Looking forward to delivering optimal playing surfaces for the summer season!
