Junior programs now started a Club
You can definitely tell it's July here now with the level of activity around the Club. Last weekend was kicked off with Thursday's Black & White Mixed Member Guest event, followed by Canada Day on Friday, the Opening Cocktail Party Saturday, the Opening Mixed Golf and Sports Dinner Sunday, and the start of the kid's junior programs on Monday.
The course is holding up well despite the increased play and the continued dryness. Last night we were pleased to receive close to 4mm of rain just before midnight! It's not the all day rain we are looking for, but we are thankful just the same! The irrigation system is definitely getting a test this season and we are grateful for the investment the Club invested ten years ago in 2006 upgrading to the state of the art system.
Just a reminder to do your part in exercising proper etiquette by repairing your divots and ball marks. With the added intense course traffic, attention to these two details helps ensure a smoother and truer playing surface for everyone. Remember the green staff repairs all tee divots, so please save the seed bottles to fix divots in the fairways and rough only! If you are unsure how to repair a ball mark properly, click here to view a demonstration video by the USGA.
Stakes now removed from new bunkers completed this spring on No. 5 and No. 10
The new bunkers completed this spring are now fully operational as of yesterday with the stakes now removed around the perimeters. The banks and slopes around the new bunkers are still delicate, so please enter and exit the bunkers on the low side to prevent causing any damage.
Above and beyond the mowing of the short turf areas on greens, tees, fairways, collars and approaches, the crew is responsible for trimming grass in the secondary rough areas which include ditches, tee banks, and hillsides as set out by the Golf Course Standards document. While these peripheral areas take second priority to the mowing of the main short turf areas, a lot of effort is still involved finding the time to maintain these areas with the busy golf schedule. Thank you for your patience while gas trimmers are being operated at times during your round.
The Manny Zerman Clinic is being held down at the practice facility today and Friday. Hopefully you've taken the opportunity to participate in this program to strengthen your short game and knock some strokes off your score.

All eyes are on 18 year old Canadian woman golfer Brooke Henderson as she competes in the US Woman's Open starting today. Just coming off a win last weekend places her in #2 in the world rankings! The rivalry between Brooke and 19 year old American Lydia Ko is now in the forefront.
