The Turf crew's drive in early this morning was met with a blinding downpour with thunder and lightning delivering 16mm of rain between 4:30 and 5:00 am. The storm rolled through quickly allowing the crew to start the daily course preparations for this Sunday morning's rounds at 5:30 am.
The quick blast of rain has left some standing water on the fairways and rough and in the old bunkers. Pumping and shovelling up sand in many of the old bunkers will be carried out before this morning's play.
Cart's are permitted this morning for those who absolutely need a cart to play. Please keep carts "high and dry" and avoid areas with standing water.
The greens were cut this morning and pins and blocks rotated. However the roll on greens was skipped not to create avoidable ruts on the softer surfaces.
The greens remain relatively firm despite the rain thanks to our drill and fill procedure carried out during the past several seasons.
Light rain is supposed to continue off and on throughout the day, but it's warm so grab your umbrella and enjoy your round.
