| A packed field for yesterday's Pro's Day |
The rain held off during yesterday's Pro's Day which featured a double shotgun and a full field in the afternoon.
Golf carts ARE permitted today. Green speed is 9.5 feet with recent moist weather conditions.
Today the scheduled greens topdressing will be postponed until next week due to wet weather. Greens will be groomed today to stand up bentgrass that is laying over prior to mowing to help provide a truer putting surface.
Environment Canada is calling for a few showers ending early this morning then mainly cloudy with 40 percent chance of showers. Clearing this afternoon. Risk of a thunderstorm this morning. High 25. UV index 6 or high. Tonight: Clear. Low 13.
Weak thatchy compacted turf areas will be solid tined aerated this morning. These areas will be overseeded and topdressed to establish stronger, more stress tolerant grasses in these areas that will have less reliance on irrigation, fertilizer and chemicals, a more sustainable, environmentally sound approach going forward.
Fairways will be sprayed this morning with the 21 day interval of Primo Maxx vertical growth inhibitor, Dispatch wetting agent and fertilizer. This spray mixture helps provide a more dense turf stand that requires less mowing to save on use of fungicides, fuel and labour. The wetting agent helps water penetrate the thatch into the soil to save the amount of irrigation water required to wet the soil.
