The MLGCC Men are hosting Beaumaris today in the Men's Interclub event beginning at 8:30am. The stakes are high as the men attempt to regain dominance of the lakes.
A cooler day is ahead with a high of only 14 degrees predicted. The radar is showing a light rain system coming our way from the NW so bring your rain suit to stay dry for today's event. The winds are supposed to pick up to gusts of 50 km/h so club selection will be key for today's competition.
With only 3mm of rain between yesterday afternoon and overnight, the course remains a little wet but the majority of standing water has had a chance to drain at the moment. Golf carts ARE PERMITTED, however please keep carts on paths where provided and stay 'high & dry' to avoid any low lying wet areas. Please repair all ball marks plus one other, as the greens are soft and marking up very easily.
All playing surfaces down the middle were mowed today (greens, collars, approaches, fairways and tees). The greens will be playing slower than normal with the wet, lush conditions. Bunkers will be raked but the wet, heavy sand is making sand saves difficult.
All the mowing was rescheduled for today in an attempt to catch up with our postponed Primo Maxx growth regulator applications on tees and fairways. Friday morning with the drier forecast, we will go out with both sprayers to apply this needed product before play with no need to wait for the mowers.
A great picture below from the recent past was taken only 10 years ago from the 4th tee. You can see how grown-in the trees were then, and what wonderful improvements have been made last season to thin out the overgrowth.
