After 2:00am last night a little rain system passed through the area. Fortunately only 7mm has fallen on the course at this time, bringing us some much needed rainfall after several days with no moisture. The last significant rain we have had was on July 27th, over two weeks ago.
Golf carts ARE PERMITTED at this time, however a few clusters of thunderstorms are expected to develop this afternoon coming up from the Golden Horseshoe into the Georgian Bay region with 30 or 40 mm of rain possible in some thunderstorms that track across the region.
The tees were mowed this morning and the rough cutters are out getting as much mowed as possible before wet conditions prevail. We sent the crew out today to hard rake the bunkers, but with the rain that continues to fall, we will wait for the storm to clear before we start to pump out the bunkers holding water. Therefore the bunkers will lack good playability during today's round.
With the rain we have had to postpone our Primo Maxx growth regulator spray application on the fairways this morning. The tees are also due this week, so it may be tough with the forecast to squeeze these two important apps in this week before the weekend.
SAND DEMO HOUR
On Monday August 25th from 12:00pm to 1:00pm at the driving range before Men's Day we are putting on Sand Demo Hour for members to test out the bunker sands down in the trial bunker. There will be a draw for a sand wedge for all those who participate in trial and fill out the survey. A Hutcheson Sand company representative will be in attendance to answer any technical questions about the various sands. Jordan will also provide some instruction on bunker shots to all participants who want to improve on their sand save percentage! We hope to see you on the 25th, and make sure you come by after your round if your playing in the morning shotgun!

Another great golf story from the weekend with Canada’s Brooke Mackenzie Henderson from Smiths Falls, Ontario achieving runner up in the U.S. Women’s Amateur on Sunday. Kristen Gillman, from Austin, Texas rallied to win by 2 up in the 36-hole finale at Nassau Country Club. Sixteen year old Henderson failed in her bid to become the third Canadian winner in tournament history. Marlene Stewart accomplished the feat in 1956, and Cathy Sherk did it in 1978. Henderson will likely move to No. 1 in the World Women’s Amateur Rankings next week.
