Pro's Day 2016 In The Books

Jordan Nathan plays "Beat the Pro" with yesterday's participants on No. 14
The summer seems to be going by way too fast.  I can't believe the 2016 Pro's Day is now behind us.  Yesterday's Pro's Day event with the morning and afternoon shotgun saw roughly 36 golfers in the morning and 117 for the afternoon.  The morning was overcast with high humidity and occasional drizzle which cleared off for the afternoon groups with sunny sky's, a two club breeze and low humidity for an enjoyable afternoon for golf!

On top of the experience of playing the well prepared course, the members and guests later enjoyed a delightful rib-eye steak dinner down at the clubhouse.  Some camaraderie and laughs were enjoyed by all

Leading up to the August long weekend, the Turf crew took advantage of the Tuesday with no tournaments planned to perform some necessary cultural practices.

Today the tees were verticut and topdressed to remove some excess leaf tissue and provide a firmer surface for players.

Some hot spots in the rough where turf has lost the battle with the dryness, were aerated and overseeded with bluegrass, to establish some new hardy turf, able to withstand the summer heat and drought without the need for excessive water going forward.

Despite the hot and dry conditions with the lack of rain,  the course is playing well with the firmer and faster conditions.  It's nice to see the extra ball roll golfers are getting as well as a little bounce as well.

Have a great round!
