October 17th

Canada flag taken down to signify end of golf season

Now that the golf course is officially closed, the crew carries on with the tasks and procedures to put the course to bed.

Since last Thursday we have received 2.75 inches of rain on the course!  What a change from the glorious weather on the Thanksgiving weekend.  Needless to say the course is really wet right now.  The wind really blew on the weekend especiall on Saturday with gusts of over 40 km/hr.  Luckily no major trees were lost just lots of leaves and debris blown around the property.

Today Environment Canada is calling for showers again today with 5 to 10 mm of accumulation. Wind west 40 km/h gusting to 60. High 10. Tonight: Showers continuing with another 10 to 15 mm. Wind west 30 km/h becoming light after midnight. Low 8.

Greens blown off after windy weekend

Today the greens will be receiving an application of gypsum which is rich in calcium. Calcium in the soil has the following benefits: reduces soil compaction, creates better environment for beneficial bacteria, improves the soil texture, is essential in maintaining proper pH, increases microbial populations, reduces sodium in soil, and can help plants absorb nutrients better. Calcium in the plant has the following benefits: enhances cell tissue strength for greater resistance to heat and stress, strengthens cell walls, increases availability for N-P-K uptake, strong cell walls significantly decrease disease and insect pressure.

The fairway solid tyne aeration will continue today thankfully with the warmth and coziness of the Kubota cab tractor!

The comm wire installation for has turned the corner along 10 fairway and is starting to head down to the clubhouse area through the back side of the flag pole area.
