It's Day 1 of the 33rd Men's Invitational Tournament with a 9:30 shotgun start. We hope everyone enjoyed the course so far during yesterday's practice round.
Environment Canada is calling for favourable weather for a good part of today's event with increasing cloudiness and 60% chance of showers this afternoon. Wind and showers are in the forecast for tonight and Saturday with 10-40mm of rain and NE wind 20km/hr and wind gusting to 60km/hr Saturday evening.
The course is in fine condition for today's round. The greens were cut last evening with the triplex and again this morning with the walker mowers equipped with the 14-blade reels for a closer, truer cut followed by a roll. This will SPEED the greens up a notch noticeably from yesterday's round, with no rainfall yesterday being also a contributing factor. PIN PLACEMENTS will be more modest and set in a similar fashion to the recent MLGCC Club Championship rounds.
Please keep CARTS on PATHS where provided and avoid WET AREAS. Avoid travelling too close to GREEN SURROUNDS as indicated by the WHITE LINES. Preserve divot mix in cart SEED BOTTLES by filling divots on FAIRWAYS and ROUGH only! The turf crew fills all divots on TEES.
As stated, GROUND HORNETS nests are in the sod wall bunker right of No. 14 green. As a precautionary measure, the bunker will be played for the tournament as "FREE RELIEF" and the ball is to be played from the drop area front right of the green.
Good luck with today's round and enjoy the camaraderie! Remember to pack your rain suit and umbrella for Saturday's round.
