May 27th

Remainder of bluegrass sod will be laid today surrounding 14 tee

WEATHER CONDITIONS
Today the morning started off with a frost delaying our morning routine until approximately 8:30 am.  Today will be sunny with a high of 19 except 13 near Georgian Bay. Tonight is supposed to be a little warmer dropping down to a low of 8.

GOLF CARTS are permitted for today.  Still use caution and keep carts on paths where provided and avoid any wet/low areas.

COURSE PLAYABILITY
GreensGreen speeds are moderate slow running at 8 feet with current higher mowing heights. The speeds should start to increase slightly as the week advances as our mowing heights start to drop slightly
Two temps remain on the course (No. 2 and No. 17) early this week while nursing turf through ice damage.  On No. 14 green, the sod is deemed 'Ground Under Repair' and roped off for this weekend.
Rough - The Rough is extremely long at the moment and we apologize as it was too wet late last week after heavy rains.  The full rough mow squad will get caught up this week as the drier conditions will now allow us as chance to get our machinery out there without causing damage.
Bunkers - The bunkers are drying out now after last weeks rains.  They will receive a good going over this week to ensure sand levels and conditions are back to normal standard leading into this coming big weekend.
Driving Range - The temporary PTO pump running off the tractor continues to run 24/7 at the driving range in hope of draining down the lake caused by this springs flooding from high lake levels and 75mm of rainfall last week. Hopefully we can catch up in the next few days to open the range for the coming weekend on June 1st.
Course Etiquette - Please remember to repair ball marks and replace divots.  If carrying your golf bag and using the sand tubes, please use on FAIRWAYS ONLY.  Maintenance staff repairs all tee divots and uses a different seed then what is used on fairways.

COURSE PRODUCT APPLICATIONS

Acelyprn applied today for Annual Bluegrass Weevil Control

Today the greens and approaches will be sprayed with Acelyprn insecticide to control annual bluegrass weevil and Japanese Beetle grubs.  This is a new class of chemistry that is very safe to the environment.

A mix of Primo Maxx plant growth regulator and Turf Balance foliar fertilizer will be applied to the greens as well using the small sprayer to aid in turf recovery and encourage lateral growth of putting surface.

PROJECTS
The bluegrass sodding for the newly expanded No. 14 tee area will be completed today.  The drainage installation on No. 2 green is now complete and will be sodded with bentgrass.  The front of No. 10 green and approach will be sodded with bentgrass as well.

This week all the areas prepped from stump removal will be sodded and cleaned up before this June 1st weekend to get the course back in a tidier condition as we get closer to our summer season.

Have a great round!
