June 10th

Why aerate?  Remove thatch, relieve compacted soil, increase root depth & density, allow air and water penetration.

COURSE MAINTENANCE
During the next couple days the greens, tees and approaches will be aerated.  Monday, the front 9 will be closed and the back 9 remain open followed by Tuesday when the operation will be reversed.  See Saturday's GCM Blog update for more details.

WEATHER CONDITIONS
The rain predicted over the weekend didn't materialize giving the course some much needed drying time.  The lows Friday, Saturday fell down to 9 degrees and Sunday night to a balmy low of 13 for some warmer temps to aid in some accelerated growth on the greens recovery.  Yesterday's high reached 24 degrees with extremely low humidity.  The next couple of days rain is predicted starting this afternoon with a high of 22 and tonight low of 15 for some good growing weather to aid in the turf recovery from the greens aeration.

GOLF CARTS are permitted today.  Conditions have dried up quite substantially over the last few days without any rain.  Please scatter cart traffic to avoid wear over concentrated areas.

CAUTION! The tree in the bush right of No. 5 green is still hung up and flagged that fell on Sunday.  Please keep away!  Bartlett tree experts will be in today to safely dismantle the trees in the zone affected.

COURSE PLAYABILITY
Front 9 closed today for aeration.  Back 9 open.  Back 9 greens were not cut this morning to give more labour resources to get ahead on the core cleanup prior to the rain.

Ground Under Repair - Treat all new sodded areas IN ROUGH as 'ground under repair'.  No. 18 fairway has been overseeded to recover ice damage.  Treat any bare areas on No. 18 as 'ground under repair'.
Greens - Green speeds are approximately 9 feet with no cut this morning.
Rough - Start of the week the mowers are back on the cutting routine after being off for the weekend.  Focus is on the green surrounds today.
Bunkers - The bunkers were raked left unraked this morning with the aeration labour requirement.
Driving Range -  The driving range is closed until further notice.  The PTO pump has gained a foot of wather over the weekend!  Hopefully we don't receive too much rain this week so we will be able to drain the remainder of water down and get the range open asap.
Course Etiquette - Please remember to repair ball marks and replace divots.  If carrying your golf bag and using the sand tubes, please use on FAIRWAYS ONLY.  Maintenance staff repairs all tee divots and uses a different seed then what is used on fairways.

Have a great round!
