June 20th

WEATHER CONDITIONS
The sweaters have been back out again the last couple of days with the highs of 18 and lows of 7.  Today is expected to be mainly sunny with a high of 23 degrees today with warmer weather expected by the weekend.

EVENTS
Yesterday saw the first Ladies' Day event with a small group of women teeing off a 1:00 pm.  Today is the Ladies' Invitational event with an afternoon shotgun starting at 1:00 pm.  There will be morning tee times available as long as play is done before 12:00 pm.  Tee times are available after 6:00 pm following the tournament.

GOLF CARTS
Are permitted for full-use today.  Please avoid lingering low lying wet areas and keep carts to paths whenever possible to avoid causing unnecessary wear to turf.

COURSE PLAYABILITY
Ground Under Repair - Treat all new sodded areas IN ROUGH as 'ground under repair'.  No. 18 fairway has been overseeded to recover ice damage.  Treat any bare areas on No. 18 as 'ground under repair'.
Greens - Greens are recovering nicely now from last week's aeration.  They will be cut for today's event.  Green speeds are becoming a little faster with drier conditions, sand disappearing off the surface and better cut from greens mowers.  Green speeds just over 8 feet.
Rough - The rough is well caught up now and crew is starting second round over course starting with green surrounds again.  Today the rough will be fertilized to help maintain a dense turf that can compete against weed competition.
Bunkers - All bunkers will be raked today.
Driving Range -  The driving range is closed until further notice.  The PTO pump now only runs through the day with noise restrictions now in play.  The recent 24mm of rain, combined with pumping restriction have set us back a bit with draining down the water.  If weather cooperates and we don't receive too much rain we should be able to have the range open for July 1.
Course Etiquette - Please remember to repair ball marks and replace divots.  If carrying your golf bag and using the sand tubes, please use on FAIRWAYS ONLY.  Maintenance staff repairs all tee divots and uses a different seed then what is used on fairways.

COURSE MAINTENANCE
Greens Spray - The monthly application of Oars wetting agent will be applied to the greens this morning following the mowers.  It deals with the cause of water repellency by reducing the humic substance coatings on sand and soil particles.
Rough Fertilizing - The rough will be fertilized this morning.  It hasn't been fertilized yet this spring and is starting to lean out.  This slow-release fertilizer will provide a season long feed of nutrients to maintain a thick healthy turf that guard against weed competition.
Greens Topdressing - The greens will be topdressed this coming Tuesday morning following a light verticut.

PROJECTS

Ditch right of No. 1 fairway dug out to help with storm water drainage

Drainage Ditch Digging - The drainage ditch the feeds down from the tennis courts along the right side of No. 1 to our basin on No. 2 tee was dug out the last few days.  The water has dropped significantly at least a foot to help not only drain down the range during stormy conditions, but help with drainage on the right side of No. 1 as well.
Bluegrass Sodding - A couple of skids of sod were brought up to sod the area by the entrance to No. 16 tee cartpath, where drainage was installed this spring to help drain water runoff.  Other misc. prepped areas will be sodded with sod that remains.

Area by No. 16 tee path stripped and sodded today

Have a great round!
