June 21st

It's June 21st, and with sunrise at 5:30 am and sunset at 9:07 pm it's the longest day of the year.  Plenty of morning light to prepare the course for the coming weekend of play.

WEATHER CONDITIONS
Yesterday was mainly sunny as expected and reached 23 degrees with very dry conditions (low humidity) to help dry out the course.  Last night's low stayed relatively high at almost 15 degrees for some good growing conditions for the recovering bentgrass turf on our greens.  Today Environment Canada is calling for a high of 27 degrees with a 30% chance of showers this morning and early this afternoon.  The temperatures are supposed to stay above normal for the next 5 days or so to kick things in gear for the upcoming holiday July 1st weekend.

Cobra Demo Day Today at Range 12-4
EVENTS
The Grimshaw Tournament is scheduled for today with 12 pm tee times.  The Cobra demo day is also on today from 12 pm to 4 pm.

GOLF CARTS - Golf Carts ARE PERMITTED for full use.  Dry conditions without rain over last 5 days.  Please scatter cart traffic to avoid concentrated wear patterns and use cart paths whenever possible.

COURSE PLAYABILITY
Greens - Greens will be cut today.  Green speeds are becoming faster day by day with recovery of aerification holes and excess sand incorporated into the turf canopy, plus drier conditions prevailing.  Green speeds are approximately 9 feet.
Rough - The rough cutting crew is keeping up on the battle of keeping the rough in check.  The rough is thick this time of year especially with the amount of rainfall and conditions favouring bluegrass growth.
Bunkers - All bunkers were raked today.  Bunkers on No. 10, 16 and 17 were sprayed for ants, so the bunker rake will be back to smooth out any tire tracks.
Driving Range -  The driving range is closed until further notice.  Our goal is to have the range open before Canada Day.  The PTO pump cannot run 24/7 anymore due to noise restrictions now in play with guests at Shamrock Lodge.  We had the ditches dig out along No. 1 that helps drain the driving range down.

With hot weather with no rain in forecast, driving range should have chance to drain before Canada Day

Ground Under Repair - Treat all new sodded areas IN ROUGH as 'ground under repair'.  No. 18 fairway has been overseeded to recover ice damage.  Treat any bare areas on No. 18 as 'ground under repair'.
Course Etiquette - Please remember to repair ball marks and replace divots.  If carrying your golf bag and using the sand tubes, please use on FAIRWAYS ONLY.  Maintenance staff repairs all tee divots and uses a different seed then what is used on fairways.

Area by entrance to No. 16 cartpath sodded with bluegrass yesterday

COURSE MAINTENANCE
Ant Spray - Select areas around No. 9, 10, 16 and 17 will be sprayed for ants with SCIMITAR Insecticide.
Tree Cleanup 5G - Remaining wood from downed tree right of No. 5 green will be picked up today.
