Fairways roped this morning as humid weather returns and efforts made to minimize leaf wetness to help prevent disease. |
WEATHER CONDITIONSThe humidity is back. Yesterday was relatively dry with temperatures topping 31 degrees with 55% humidity. Overnight the temperatures barely dipped below 20 degrees which kicked-in the dollar spot mycelium with the warm, humid conditions. There is a humidex warning in effect today and temperatures are expected to reach 32 degrees. Tonight is not supposed to go below 23! It doesn't look as though this weather is going to break until Friday when the highs are expected to drop to only 25 degrees.
GOLF CART USAGE
Golf carts are available today for FULL USE. With peak season play please be conscious of stress on turf caused by concentrated traffic. Scatter carts to avoid excessive wear. Please use cart paths where provided. Keeping carts on paths on par 3's is a good practice.
COURSE CONDITIONS
Greens - Were rolled only today. With peak hot humid weather we are trying to do as little as possible to stress the turf. Green speeds will be just under 9 feet with no cut and humid weather. Scheduled venting and topdressing was postponed until next Tuesday due to extremely hot weather. Sections on No. 14 and 17 will be spot dimpled and overseeded to promote more bentgrass in thinned out Poa areas.
Areas on No. 14 and 17 greens will be hand dimpled and overseeded with bentgrass today |
Fairways - Were dragged to remove dew and aid in disease control this morning. The fairways were sprayed this morning with Primo Maxx growth regulator + Triton fungicide to control dollar spot + some foliar fertilizer to feed the turf.
Rough - Greens surrounds were completed yesterday with the light-weight mowers. Today they will move on to complete the tee and bunkers surrounds while the big rough unit completes it's first round around the course.
Bunkers - Greenside bunkers will be hard raked today then smoothed out with the fan rakes. Fairway bunkers will be spun with the Sand Pro rake then fan raked.
Ground Under Repair - Treat all new sodded areas IN ROUGH as 'ground under repair'. No. 18 fairway has been overseeded to recover ice damage. Treat any bare areas on No. 18 as 'ground under repair'.
Course Etiquette - Please remember to repair ball marks and replace divots. If carrying your golf bag and using the sand tubes, please use on FAIRWAYS ONLY. Do not use sand tubes or bottles to fix tee divots!!! It's the golf course maintenance staff responsibility to repair all tee divots on a periodic basis. Using the sand and seed mix on tees will deplete your available material for fixing fairway divots prematurely! We also use a different seed on the tees for shadier conditions and quicker germination.
Driving Range - The Driving Range remains open for PARTIAL USE ONLY. We ask that you hit only from the stations that are set up, and only at the flagsticks set up (yardages are indicated on the permanent marker). The range will be closed during certain times to hand pick as needed, and for Junior Clinics. Thank you for your understanding during this wet season with high lake levels. It's been a battle! With the drier weather the water levels are dropping and ditches are getting lower allowing us to get ahead of the standing water. The debris in the pump chamber from the repeated flooding of the range will be hydro vacuumed this Thursday to increase the efficiency of the drainage system.Gardens - The weekly (Tuesdays) Bobbex deer repellent was applied this morning.
Have a great round!
