On August 31st, 1925, Bobby Jones was featured on the cover of Time Magazine. |
This Sundays tournament theme is the Great Gatsby, which was published in 1925. What else happened that year? The Chrysler motor company was founded, Adolf Hitler's personal memoir, Mein Kampf, was published, the first addition of the New Yorker was published and arguably the best amateur golfer of all time and designer of Augusta National Golf Club, Bobby Jones, was featured on the cover of time magazine. Quite the year for literary accomplishments to say the least. Make sure you bust out those knee high socks and wooden clubs!
Today is shaping up to be another great day for golf weather wise. With a high of 27 and a light breeze, todays tournament should be a lot of fun. Tonight and into tomorrow, Environment Canada is calling for some much needed rain, so enjoy the beautiful weather today.
This mornings routine included: changing of the pins, mowing the greens, raking the bunkers, rotating the tee blocks and emptying garbage. The pins have been changed to black and white with matching black and white flags to go along with todays classic theme.
Remember to use the divot mix on your carts for fairways only and to repair ball marks on the greens surface. The greens are still a little soft from this weeks venting, so it is very important to hunt those ball marks down and repair them!
Enjoy todays theme and have an excellent round!
