Bentgrass roots growing in two different soil types. Right side clay and left side sand. Which do you think it prefers? |
Today, greens were mowed, bunkers were raked, pins were changed and the blocks were rotated. The course will play dry and fast today. The effects of topdressing will show today, so watch how hard you hit your putts!
Greens 2, 14 and 17 heights of cut were slightly dropped today. Growing conditions have been optimal the last few days. This means the turf plant enjoys the temperatures they are in right now due to the low stress factors.
Syringing: the act of cooling the turf plant with a few rotations of the green side sprinklers. When temperatures reach a stressful point, usually during the early afternoon hours, it is normal for members of our staff to be placing sprinklers on between groups. This is a key agronomical practice to relieve stress to the greens. We try our best to put them on between groups, but the odd time, you may have to wait a few minutes before you step on the green. This should only be up to a 3 minutes wait as that is the exact time they run for.
Thank you for your patience and enjoy your round!
