Geese problem and now coyotes

Coyotes down along No. 18 scaring away geese?
The rope along the shoreline may have helped a bit to keep the geese off the No's 17 and 18 but the geese continue to be a problem.  The coyotes have been brought in as another measure to help get rid of the geese so we will see what happens.

The finish product left of No. 15 green where the brush was removed and it was graded and sodded looks great and a big improvement in playability if you hook a little on that approach.  The drainage before the road on No. 13 fairway will be completed today (weather permitting).

The fairway topdressing was completed yesterday.  We spread close to 200 tons of sand material in total over the fairways as recommended by the USGA agronomist to help dilute the thatch and provide a smoother, firmer surface.  This program will continue one more time this fall help make a significant impact to the thatch layer.  We demonstrated a new spinner package that is now available for our aging fairway topdressing unit which was able to deliver the sand more uniformly across the playing surface. The fairways will hopefully be fertilized now before the weekend if the weather works in our favour.  Some fertilizer will also be placed today around the green rough surrounds to keep the turf nourished.

The weekend is just around the corner and there is still a few spots available for this Sunday's Great Gatsby event with an 8am or 1pm shotgun start.  Get your costume together and join in on the fun!

Enjoy your round!
