Mamma waiting for her young one to cross the road beside No. 3 fairway yesterday |
It's hard to believe it's the end of July already! Where's the heat we are used to having this time of year? There's been no days that have gone above 30 degrees on the course this month. What a treat it has been to grow grass this season compared to some of late.
With no rain since the 3mm received Tuesday evening, we've finally had to run a full irrigation the first time in over a month! Things are starting to firm up nicely but a chance of rain or thundershowers on the weekend. Today is supposed to be sunny with a high of 23 degrees.
The course is being prepared for the weekend play with the greens being cut and rolled, pins changed, collars and approaches mowed, bunkers raked, green surround rough cut, tee service, permanent markers and sprinklers trimmed, and cartpaths graded.
There is a Greens Committee meeting this morning with a tour of the golf course being conducted between 10:30am and 12:00pm which will explain the grouping of 4-5 carts roaming around the property. The meeting will end with the directors meeting back at the Turf Centre for a barbecue with our dedicated greens staff.
There are no special golf events on the calendar for this weekend. Just regular tee times for both days. Monday will be 'Pro's Day' with an 8:00am and 1:30pm double shotgun. Don't miss the chance to beat Jordan on the 14th tee!
Greens will be lightly topdressed this Tuesday a.m. |
The greens will be lightly topdressed this coming Tuesday morning to maintain smoothness by filling in any depressions made from footprints or ballmarks. This process also helps dilute any organic matter and prevent the buildup of a thatch layer that can interfere with water penetration and reduce firmness.
Enjoy the weekend!
