Greens lightly topdressed this morning |
This morning we will be giving the greens a much needed light topdress to help maintain their smoothness by filling in foot depressions and ball mark scars. We normally do this process on a bi-weekly basis but skipped last week with the extreme high heat conditions that came through early in the week.
The greens and tees will be mowed and the bunkers raked this morning. The tee/bunker surrounds and rough will be mowed today.
Some select thin turf areas around the course will be aerated, overseeded, topdressed and fertilized this morning to establish new hardier grass. These weak areas are centred around compacted areas, dry mounds or shady locations that struggle due to their weak growing environments.
Weekly application of Bobbex sprayed on ornamentals this morning to deter deer |
The gardens will get their weekly spray of Bobbex Deer Repellent spray this morning. Bobbex is a non-toxic, foliar spray intended to deter deer from browsing on trees, shrubs and ornamental plantings. The active ingredients in Bobbex that deter deer are eggs, capsaicin, and a combination of wintergreen oil, garlic oil, fish oil, castor oil, fish meal and meat meal. This combination of ingredients give the product natural repellent characteristics against herbivores.
We are excited to report the bentgrass sodbeds that were re-seeded last week between No. 15, 16 and 17 are already starting to germinate! This new bentgrass sod supply will help us with repair of any future damaged areas without having to be subjected to high import sod costs.
