Pro's Day

'Beat the Pro' on No. 18 today
It's the end of July which means Pro's Day for today's Men's Day with an 8:00am or 1:30pm shotgun to participate in the event.  Jordan will be set up this year on No. 18 to challenge the participants in a special contest.

Dinner will follow at the Clubhouse with a fabulous, mouth watering rib-eye steak dinner to end a great day.

After 12mm of rain Saturday, we were lucky to escape receiving any of the thunderstorms yesterday, so the course is starting to dry up with the current windy conditions.  This morning will be a cooler 13 degrees and rise to a high of 19 this afternoon.  There is a 70% chance of showers early this morning but the radar shows the rainfall further south of us.

The turf crew is preparing the course for today's big event with greens being cut, rolled and pins changed; fairways, collars and approaches mowed; bunkers raked; green surround rough mowed and flymowed.

A reminder that greens will be topdressed lightly tomorrow morning (weather permitting).

Yesterday's RBC Canadian Open drew to a close yesterday with 6 Canadians playing into the weekend making the cut this year.  This compares to only 3 last year at Glen Abbey.

Low amateur Taylor Pendrith finished the tournament will a -3.  Taylor is brother to one of our former Assistant Golf Course Superintendents, Jennifer Pendrith, who tenure lasted from 2000 to 2004 at Muskoka Lakes before she was hired as Superintendent at Kawartha Lakes Golf & Country Club in 2005.

Taylor Pendrith younger brother of Jennifer Pendrith past Assistant Superintendent at MLGCC

Taylor was a top collegiate golfer at Kent State, winning the prestigious Porter Cup in his junior year, and is now a member of Canada's national golf team, earning an exemption to play in his first Canadian Open, where he posted an eye-opening 65 in round one, before shooting a disappointing 75 on Friday and then rebounding with an impressive 68 on Saturday. If not for the double bogey, he'd be sitting near the leaders heading into Sunday's final round. He had five birdies in the back nine on Saturday.

Have a great day!
