Marilyn Hawtin Memorial

Pink flags and tee blocks going out for today's Marilyn Hawtin Memorial Event

The pink flags out today are appropriate for today's Ladies' Day event The Marilyn Hawtin Memorial which purpose is to raise the awareness of breast cancer.  The Ladies' will play from the pink blocks today set up on the yellow tees.

Bring your umbrella as there are light isolated showers potentially in the area this morning and a high of only 13 degrees.  This afternoon, there will be variable cloudiness with a high of 19.

The greens were cut, rolled and pins changed this morning.  The bunkers were raked and some rough will be cut leading up to the 8:00am shotgun, when the crew will shut it down and move to other areas of the property to keep the round peaceful for the Ladies Day event.

The driving range will be closed for its weekly maintenance this morning from 9:30am to 1:00pm after the 9-hole ladies have had a chance to hit some balls.  If the weather cooperates, we hope to aerate, overseed and topdress the driving range tee during the closure, to fill in any voids of grass and remove compaction from carts continually driving on the tee.  A irrigation leak will be fixed near one of the back target greens which has a faulty quick coupler valve.  Some more trimming around some of the perimeter long grass will also be cut down to gain some more real estate with the drier conditions present at the range this year.

Thin area left of No. 1 fairway was aerified, overseeded with shade mix to match its microclimate, and fertilized yesterday

Yesterday's solid tine aerifying, overseeding and fertilizing of rough areas went well.  The seed varieties placed in the various thin locations will help promote a denser turf going forward.  There are a few thin fairway bunker surrounds to finish off tomorrow once Ladies' Day is complete.

Greens will receive their weekly foliar fertilizer and Primo Maxx application tomorrow morning to help keep the greens nourished and healthy without too much top growth.

Enjoy your round!
