Club Champs Named This Past Weekend and Course Gets Playing Surface Tune Up This Week

Congratulations go out to Cam Dymond and Jordon Newlands who rose to the top on the weekend to become this year's men's and women's club champions!

With the club champs behind us and a little bit of a lull in play now during the season, the greens maintenance team will spend some time this week to tuning-up the playing surfaces on fairways, tees and approaches after a very wet summer.

Fairway topdressing began this morning behind the fairway mowers starting with a few of the more wet fairways on 1, 5 and 7 completed today before the afternoon Men's day shotgun at 1:30pm.  Some showers are predicted tomorrow, so getting some of these fairways out of the way today will help ensure we can complete the process in a timely manner this week.  If all goes well, most of the work will be completed by the end of tomorrow if the weather holds.

The sand will smooth out any surface irregularities after this wet summer, making it firmer for carts and help dilute the unwanted undecomposed organic matter (thatch) in the top layer of turf which can create problems with water penetration if left unchecked.

The tees and approaches will also receive a verticut and topdress treatment this week to manage the organic layer also and help smooth and firm up those surfaces.

Enjoy the conditions out there and remember to do your part and repair divots and ballmarks.
