Puddling starting to accumulate on course at start of yesterday's storm |
The golf course was pounded with 64mm of rain yesterday temporarily flooding the playing surfaces and leading to a full course closure at 10am. Bunkers and cartpaths were washed out and some damage was created on the new middle tee on No. 6.
The storm lasted a good part of the day, tailing off around 4pm. The course has had since that time to drain. Luckily, the high rate of rainfall didn't allow a chance to soak in and was able to get away, running into the ditches and surface drains leaving the course fairly firm for today's Ladies' Closing "Flower Power" event.
Golf carts will be permitted today. However, keep carts on paths where provided, and stay "high and dry" keeping on the fairways where more drainage and sand topdressing provides firmer ground to travel on.
Bunkers will need to be shovelled up and raked this morning, and cartpaths will need to be regraded so drive with caution. Most of the cutting will be put on hold today and resume tomorrow.
Our low lying driving range is still flooded as expected at the moment and should rebound by the end of the week as the pumps continue to run and drain the area. The range will be limited to the hitting net and chipping green today while the excess water drains off.
A section of the hillside off the front right of the new middle tee on 6 washed out which will require some repair tomorrow after the rest of the course cleanup is completed.

It's good the storm didn't bring with it too much wind, as there is minimal branch cleanup that needs to be addressed saving some man hours to get the course back into full form.
Despite the storm yesterday, the course should be in fine conditions for today's event.
Have a great round and enjoy!
